Budget Advocacy

The Budget Advocacy team comprises  Women’s Policy Institute graduates and grassroots leaders experienced in the state legislative process and it focuses on restoring public funding for programs and services for California’s low-income women, children and families; reforming the state budget process; changing the discussion from one of budget cuts to one of finding revenue sources; and support the Foundation’s newly launched Stand with Women Campaign.

Women continue to be the backbone of California’s families, workforce and economy. Over the past three years, California has chosen cuts-only budgets that have shredded programs critical to the health and safety of women and families. These cuts have had a devastating effect. Budget Advocacy fellows, women who are already familiar with the public policy process, will learn how to promote economic opportunity for women and help build a healthy economy through the California budget.
