Strong Field Project

The Women’s Foundation of California is honored to collaborate with Blue Shield of California Foundation on the Strong Field Project, a four-year effort aimed at building a strong, coordinated network of domestic violence (DV) service providers in California.
The Strong Field Project builds upon the Foundation’s long-time commitment to the health, safety, economic security and leadership of women. Founded in 1979, we were an early supporter of the domestic violence field. Since then we have developed significant statewide capacity and a 30-year track record of funding and providing capacity-building grants and training to community-based organizations that lead statewide work for systemic change. We believe that a strategic investment of resources will be transformative for the domestic violence field and for the women, families and communities of California.
The Women’s Foundation leads the organizational strength grants component of the Strong Field Project. In July 2010 we selected Cohort I, which consisted of 15 grant partners poised to strengthen their own capacity or the efficiency and capacity of the DV field. Grant partners were selected through a rigorous and competitive application process. The next cohort will be selected in 2012.
