Surina Khan CEO of the Women’s Foundation of California talks National Women’s Equality Day

by Nicola

Today is Women’s Equality Day celebrating the moment exactly 99 years ago when women across America, specifically white women, gained the right to vote.

It’s not just a day to remember the fight for that right. But also to consider the work being done. Women of color were denied their vote for many more decades after that day 99 years ago. While voter suppression continues to prevent many from exercising that right to this day. The Women’s Foundation of California’s CEO Surina Khan joined CBS to discuss National Women’s Equality Day and why today we at the Foundation are celebrating and centering women and girls of color, immigrant women, and LGBTQIA people.
