The Women's Foundation of California welcomes new board members, Senator Holly Mitchell and C.M. Samala! - Women's Foundation California

The Women’s Foundation of California is excited to announce that this month we welcome two new board members: Senator Holly J. Mitchell and C.M. Samala!

State Senator Holly J. Mitchell, represents more than 1 million residents of Los Angeles and is a long-time partner and champion of the Women’s Foundation of California. Senator Mitchell is co-chair of WFC’s Philanthropy and Public Policy Institute and has authored seven Women’s Policy Institute bills ranging from criminal justice reform to increased economic security. She is chair of the California Senate Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review and the Senate Select Committee on Women and Inequality, which she founded. In January, 2018, she was named vice chair of the Joint Committee on Rules Subcommittee on Sexual Harassment Prevention and Response.

Samala is Co-Founder + Managing Partner at Jump Canon, a venture firm offering early stage investment to spectacular, unconventional and unprecedented founders. She built and co-founded America’s first national organization to serve Asian Pacific American communities online: 18MR.org. Samala’s expertise is broad and deep, she is both a Wharton business school grad and a DJ that’s played all over the world, but the focus of all of her work is building community.

We are so thrilled to begin 2019 with Senator Mitchell and Samala as members of our board and look forward to learning from and strategizing with them both. We are also looking forward to celebrating with them. 2019 marks our 40th anniversary so be sure to sign up for our newsletter to hear about the birthday parties we will be hosting throughout our amazing state.
