Trust, Action, Justice: $300,000 to Build the Future We Need - Women's Foundation California

There are times when the weight of the moment demands not just action, but action rooted in courage and love. This election and the impending administration demand such a moment, and we’ve responded by moving $300,000 to 28 organizations led by BIPOC women, gender-expansive people, and organizers working on the frontlines of justice. These are the builders and dreamers crafting our feminist future in real time, and we moved quickly because their work cannot wait.

James Baldwin said, “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” In this spirit, we face it all—the fear, the injustice, the relentless assault on human dignity—knowing that within the very communities under attack lies the power to chart a new course. Reproductive justice organizers, immigrants and refugees, transgender, gender-expansive, and intersex communities are the architects of the future we know is possible, shaped by their courage and vision, which will be sustained by all of us.

For Women’s Foundation California, this is more than philanthropy. It’s an act of love. An act of trust. An act of solidarity. We are breaking free from the white, cisgender-hetero-patriarchal traditions of philanthropy, because we know the future requires unwavering solidarity and deep pockets for our collective liberation. To move toward liberation, we must boldly redistribute power and resources  without hesitation.

This is the work we are doing together: reimagining what is possible, reshaping systems, and building a future where racial, environmental, economic, and gender justice are not just possibilities, but realities.

Our power lies in our solidarity. And together, we can meet this moment and every moment to come.
