We’re Betting On Us.
Nationally, 4% of philanthropic funding supports girls and women. A landmark study released by Ms. Foundation in July 2020 found that philanthropic funding for women and girls of color drops to 0.5%.
As we approach our work through a critical and inclusive gender lens, we focus on the experiences, concerns, and leadership of cisgender and transgender people, non-binary and genderqueer people.
Women’s Foundation California is rooted in a core belief that those who experience injustice most directly are best suited to develop solutions that work in the context of their lives. So too must philanthropy radically change where funding is going if we are serious about advancing racial, economic, and gender justice.
Over 40 years
As we celebrate four decades of steadfast work and look towards the future, it could not be clearer that the connective and bolstering work of the Women’s Foundation California is more critical than ever. The Women’s Foundation California is vital to the flourishing network of organizations across the state that shift the balance of power and create the world we know is possible.
Made for
this moment
We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating:
We were made for this moment.
We are standing at the brink of incredible change in our state and in our country. Our movements are counting on our unrelenting support. If you share our sense of urgency and purpose, join us by investing in gender justice and the Women’s Foundation California for the next 40 years.
