InnerCity Struggle
Estefany Garcia is a proud Chicana that was raised in the Eastside of Los Angeles, CA. Brought up by immigrant parents, she became involved in community organizing in middle school and has been an organizer in her community for the past 13 years. Estefany is a first-generation college graduate from UCLA and is the Alumni Organizing Coordinator with InnerCity Struggle (ICS). In the past 4 years with ICS, she has been an organizer at 2 high schools and is currently the founder of the Young Adult Component that trains college aged youth to get involved. Estefany has established restorative justice programs, been published on a report assessing higher education barriers, and co-led a statewide campaign to halt California State University admission changes that would have been an additional barrier for students of color. She is honored to develop the leadership of young people, as her mentors did growing up.
