As a daughter of refugees and a first generation Hmong American who lived in poverty during childhood, Mai has dedicated her life to building with disenfranchised communities. Currently, she organizes with Building Our Future- a global community campaign advocating for gender equity and united to end gender-based violence in the Hmong community. Additionally, Mai is a part of the Central Valley Healing Collective- a union of healers and community organizers who hosts free public clinics offering holistic care. Mai also serves as Political Director at Courage California– leading the organization’s electoral and policy efforts; fighting for CA to become a more equitable and representative democracy. She is a proud aunt and honors her mother, Ka Vue, as the most resilient womyn she knows.
