Miyana Evans, a full-time toy poodle mom, was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. She attended UCLA, earning Bachelor’s degrees in African American Studies and Sociology, and minoring in Film and Television. During her time at UCLA, she engaged in initiatives geared towards bridging the gap between low-income neighborhoods and higher education, empowering youth to dream big.

Her passion for empowering youth to advocate for themselves drove her work in policy, youth advocacy, and youth programming, most notably as the Lead Program Coordinator for the Rites of Passage Program at Black Women for Wellness. With extensive experience working with teens and marginalized communities across LAUSD and in the nonprofit sector, Miyana dedicates her efforts to ensuring equitable access to reproductive care, health and wellness resources, and education for youth. She believes it is important now, more than ever, to encourage the youth to stand up for issues that directly impact their communities. Committed to serving as a mentor, liaison, and educator, Miyana strives to help youth discover the leader that already exists within by providing them with the necessary tools, skills, and resources to confidently drive change!
