Swati is the Research and Policy Consultant for the California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative (CHNSC) and is also an independent public and environmental health consultant. For the past 15 years, she has been committed to fighting for environmental justice, worker’s rights, women’s rights, environmental health, and social justice. She has extensive experience in toxics reductions strategies, pollution prevention polices, sustainable practices and project management. In nearly 7 years at San Francisco’s Department of Environment, she previously managed the Commercial Toxics Reduction and Green Business programs, where she was responsible for crafting and implementing environmental health policies to promote the use of less-toxics alternatives. She spearheaded the first Healthy Nail Salon Recognition program in the nation, which won the Harvard Roy Family Award for Environmental Partnership. Swati received her B.S. from UCLA in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics and her M.S. in Global Environmental Health from UC Berkeley.
