Hollywood is Telling Kim Carter’s Story

Photo caption: Kim Carter will be featured in one of seven segments of a film that highlights inspiring women. Pictured from left: Kim Carter, Andrea Iervolino, Taraji P. Henson, Jennifer Hudson.

Kim Carter’s journey from homelessness, incarceration, and addiction to CEO and Ambassador for Time for Change Foundation reads like a Hollywood script. So, I was thrilled, but not surprised when I read that Taraji P. Henson would direct Jennifer Hudson playing Kim in the soon-to-be-released “Pepcy & Kim” – as part of an anthology featuring stories featuring, written, and directed by women.

We are tremendously proud to claim Kim as one of our own as a Solís Policy Institute alum and board member. In fact, Kim says it’s“…because of my Solís Policy Institute experience, I am courageous enough to think I can make a difference.” And what a difference she makes.

Do you know someone like Kim who should be part of our Solís Policy Program?

NOMINATE

Applications for Solís Policy Institute – Local program open up in March and we want to make sure that all the right folks are making it into the program. So, we are asking you, our community, to nominate people with powerful perspectives and meaningful lived experiences who are ready to deepen their change-making skills.

Kim’s story reinforces the powerful truth that the people closest to the problem are also closest to the solution. We want people like Kim with big hearts and bold ideas to be part of our next SPI Local class and we need your help to find them.

We can’t wait to find out who you nominate!

This work is powered by you.
