On Friday, May 7, 2010, the Women’s Foundation of California’s 2010 Momentum Awards provided an opportunity to come together and celebrate the work of inspiring women who devote themselves to improving the lives of California and its communities. More than 300 women and men gathered in Beverly Hills at the Montage Marquessa Ballroom, an elegant cream-colored room with soft lighting, to celebrate Aileen Adams, deputy mayor of strategic partnerships for Los Angeles, Laura Chick, California Inspector General and Connie Rice, co-director of the Advancement Project.
These are fearless, passionate and innovative women who tirelessly champion the rights of women in our communities, both local and global. “True, deep, soulful champions,” Lateefah Simon said, “who have decided to give their very essence to the human spirit.”
Just as we were there to celebrate, we were there to fundraise. We succeeded in tripling our fundraising goal during the luncheon. Those gifts were matched dollar for dollar.
