The LA fires are a stark reminder of the urgent need for action in the face of growing environmental disasters. At WFC, we are tracking the fires and checking in with our SoCal staff, community partners, and local organizations. While everyone on our WFC team is safe, we recognize that many in our communities are not. The devastation caused by these fires is immense, and recovery will take time, resources, and collective effort.
We want to take a moment to thank the firefighters, first responders, community volunteers, and organizations working tirelessly to contain the fires and provide relief to those affected.
Our approach is clear:
- Amplify: Share the voices and needs of grassroots orgs and mutual aid networks.
- Mobilize: Move resources quickly to where they’re needed most.
- Redistribute: Focus on equity, ensuring support reaches the most vulnerable.
We know these disasters disproportionately affect marginalized communities—people of color, families in poverty, cisgender and transgender women, gender-nonconforming individuals, undocumented folks, incarcerated individuals, farmworkers, elders, people with disabilities, and those impacted by gender-based violence.
Looking for ways to contribute or stay informed, we recommend the resources below:
We want to hear from you:
- Are there orgs or networks responding to the fires?
- Do you know of communities in particular need of support?
We’re compiling and sharing resources to make sure help gets to those who need it most.
This isn’t just about today—it’s about building resilience for tomorrow. Together, we can make a difference.
