Honoring Policy Makers Who Are Improving California for Women and Families - Women's Foundation California
Tam Ma presents the Cindy Marano Leadership Award to Nicole Vazquez

This past Tuesday in Sacramento, we honored three leaders who embodied the spirit and vision of the Women’s Foundation of California.

Assembly Member Jim Beall Jr., Assembly Member Fiona Ma and Human Services Consultant Nicole Vazquez are three indomitable individuals who walk their talk each and every day and take the necessary, sometimes very challenging steps required to create a healthier climate for women and families in California.

Jessie Ryan presents the Champion Award to Assembly Member Jim Beall, Jr.

We also celebrated our 2011 Women’s Policy Institute (WPI) fellows. Now in its eighth year, WPI is designed to increase the number of community based women leaders who are actively involved in the policy process.

WPI fellows learn how to create and get legislation passed that improves the lives of all communities. They are the bridge that links policymakers to communities. Since the program’s inception, we’ve trained over 200 women and passed 13 pieces of legislation.
