Kel O’Hara is a Senior Attorney of Policy and Education Equity at Equal Rights Advocates (ERA). At ERA, Kel created the first project in the country focused on supporting LGBTQ+ student survivors of sexual violence in school under Title IX. Their current practice centers around legislative and other policy advocacy at the local, state, and national level with an emphasis on sexual violence and harassment, economic equity, and education civil rights. Kel is an expert in trauma-informed lawyering and has extensive experience advocating for trauma-informed, survivor-centric, and culturally competent institutional responses to sexual violence. Before becoming a lawyer, Kel served as a certified rape crisis counselor at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.
