Sacramento Bee - Letter to the Editor: Time to Fight

TIME TO FIGHT

Democrats’ choice wins key Wisconsin Supreme Court race,” (sacbee.com, April 6)

The result of the Wisconsin Supreme Court race provides a sign of encouragement for reproductive health and underscores the power of the 61% of Americans who say abortion should be legal – even in “purple” states like Wisconsin. Now is not the time to let up on our quest for reproductive justice.

The Women’s Foundation California is actively collaborating with the Newsom Administration to build the infrastructure for the multi-state Reproductive Freedom Alliance to protect and expand access to care. The governors of 21 states, including California, can serve as a model for protecting other basic rights to ensure safe and thriving communities for our families.

It takes more than just one seat on a bench to win this. It requires support from private and public sectors to keep knocking down barriers and investing in local, regional, and state-based efforts to protect reproductive freedoms.
