Diamond Lee knows that we are in this together. Recounting her experience working in LA county to improve outcomes for Black maternal health, she said “…My success is tied to the success of the people on my team.” And Diamond, a Women’s Foundation California, Women’s Policy Institute Alum, knows something about success.
Her work is motivated by a deep understanding that practicing values of healing and justice are how we uplift our community. Today, we are asking you to invest in our collective power with a monthly gift to Women’s Foundation California.

Early last year, Diamond and her WPI team’s organizing efforts convinced the LA County Board of Supervisors to unanimously pass a motion to explore funding that would provide doulas for Black birthing people in Los Angeles. Diamond, and her continued work protecting and celebrating Black lives and Black birth, is a vital part of our interconnected and resilient community.
The work is heavy, but also full of healing and joy. “When you’re working in a community with people that look like you, they get it…You don’t fear naming racial trauma, because you have a container to hold that. And to me, that is joyful,” says Diamond.
