These SPI Bills Need Your Help NOW!

We’re not letting anyone stand in the way of advancing a policy agenda deeply rooted in our intersectional feminist values.

Today we are rallying our community to turn up the volume on three bills. Advanced by this year’s Solís Policy Institute State teams,  these bills are ready to change people’s lives and make reproductive healthcare accessible, keep food on the table, and hold police accountable.

We need this community to get loud on Twitter and pick up the phone to voice your support for these three of pieces legislation moving us towards our intersectional feminist future TODAY.

Let him know that you’re backing this powerful slate of Solís Policy Institute-fueled feminist policy. Call, tweet, and make some noise for:

  • Reproductive Justice for ALL // AB 2320
Establishes a pilot program for counties to direct funds to community health clinics providing essential reproductive healthcare for ALL.
  • Doubling Down on Food Security // AB 2300
Provides CalWorks and CalFresh recipients with additional protections against reductions in their Benefits when facing workers’ rights violations.
  • Police Accountability & Public Safety // AB 2761
Ensures greater transparency in the recording of a death involving or in the custody of  public safety officials by requiring medical examiners and coroners to record this information when determining the cause of death.

Right now, we need to get these bills out of the Appropriations Committee and onto the Senate floor before August 12th. As Chair of the Appropriations Committee, Senator Portantino needs to hear from this community today.

So, let’s make a racket together!

P.S. Our dynamo SPI State teams also have two bills already getting ready to vote on that could also use some extra shine! Call or Tweet at your Assembly Member and urge them to support housing protections for survivors of domestic violence with SB 1017. Then, call or Tweet at your Senator to get behind AB 2195 and support alternatives to criminalization for drug users.

This work is powered by you.

The feminist future we are building together in California is going to be built by all of us sharing our time, our money, and our skills.  Please consider contributing today.

Together We Are Unstoppable.
