Sundance supports an abundance of beautiful communities, conversations, and storytelling, reminding us that our stories have the power to shape our future. This year, Women’s Foundation California was proud to support the Latinx House and the inaugural Indigenous House to celebrate and support filmmakers, artists, and creators building innovative narrative and cultural strategies.
Building on this momentum, I had the privilege to sit down with Hailie Sahar, a trailblazing award-winning actor. Sahar made history as one of the five transgender lead actors to star in the culturally groundbreaking FX series, Pose. We discussed her upcoming biopic celebrating the life and legacy of her friend, trans performer, and pioneering activist Sir Lady Java.
Stories like Sir Lady Java’s and Hailie Sahar’s are shifting power, generating new narratives, and inspiring social change. Together, we are building narrative change and co-creating a brighter, more inclusive, more authentic, and more connected future.
