This year, the courage, resilience, and power of our community have been my beacon as I begin my new CEO role. In spite of an international anti-gender crusade and a rising tide of fascism, we are strong, connected, and hopeful, together.
Global feminist movements for abolition, liberation, and reparations remind us how to resist and build, hand in hand, over generations. From California voters and legislators safeguarding reproductive freedoms to the decriminalization of abortion in Argentina, Mexico, and soon Brazil, our linked arms span historical eras and colonial borders.
Women’s Foundation California is proudly multiracial, multicultural, and multigenerational. Collectively, we resource communities experiencing the most egregious impacts of extraction and systemic oppression. We honor the journeys of our ancestors, knowing today we have the opportunity to re-imagine what it looks like for everyone to thrive – ¡con alegría!
The 600+ member strong network of Solís Policy Institute alums, 30 teen activists in our Summer Leadership Institute, 25+ TGI-led organizations in the California Transgender, Gender Variant, Intersex Policy Alliance, and 10 steering committee leaders of the California Future of Abortion Council all demonstrate the vision and unity of our people. Though profound challenges lie ahead, our community is luminous.
Year after year, we fiercely create our feminist future rooted in love. As we head into 2024 – while holding a vision that honors future generations – I hope you will make a gift today. Together, we will continue to invest in the world that we long for and our communities deserve.
