Mary Ignatius at Parent Voices told me recently, “…Funding women of color-led grassroots organizing in California and across the nation is what’s going to transform everything…We bring everybody along with us.” I couldn’t agree more.
At Women’s Foundation California, we exist to invest in, train, and connect women of color and non-binary folks doing this transformative work. Working together, we can support and grow the inclusive and visionary organizing of our grant partners like Parent Voices.
Led and run by parents, Parent Voices changes laws and shifts budgets across California to ensure accessible and affordable quality child care for all families.
After decades of organizing across the Parent Voices and Stronger California networks, folks taking paid family leave will now have a job to come back to. Signed into law this September, the job protections written into S.B. 1383 mark a huge win for Californians caring for new babies and sick family members, especially crucial amidst this pandemic.
Together we can continue to invest in organizations like Parent Voices. Let’s bring everybody along with us and care for each other along the way.
