Yesterday marks two years since we filled San Francisco’s City Hall to celebrate our 40th anniversary together. A lot has changed in the last twenty four months, but the meaningful connections that power this community are steady and strong – even and especially in the face of a pandemic.
Here are just a few of the ways that this community continues to grow and shift, spark new connections and mark bold victories in this new moment.
- We rally
-
-
- Whether we are passing the Momnibus bill or changing what sentencing looks like for survivors, our Solis Policy Institute teams are rallying legislators and influencing local leaders to shift California’s policy landscape.
-
- We gather
-
-
- We gather in Zoom rooms and on conference calls, in text threads and WhatsApp groups to learn, to advocate, to take a deep breath, and to celebrate. While how we are getting together looks a little different, our community calls and online trainings are keeping us connected to each other.
-
- We give
-
-
- We are fueled by your generosity. In this unprecedented season, we are tremendously grateful for how this community continues to give at record levels. Whether its new Continuum members or planned gifts or new partnerships, the generosity of this community has allowed us to expand our grantmaking to support every single domestic violence shelter in the state, to support organizations pushing back against the recall, and grow our roster of grant partners.
-
Together we are crafting our feminist financial future. We are exploring what it looks like to create a will that includes the practical as well as providing future resources to the next generation of Women’s Foundation California. In this season, we started the Bea Solis Memorial Endowment to invest long-term in feminist leadership and power building making sure that newly-named Solis Policy Institute will continue to shape the legal landscape of California.
- We champion
-
-
- We are wearing our values while we champion the causes we care about. We launched our WFC shop where you can mask up or slip on a tee and invest in some radical organizations while you’re at it! Gender justice looks good on you.
-
- We connect
We’re not gonna lie: we miss getting together in person, but the power and beauty and adaptability of this community continues to fill our cup. As we continue to navigate new terrain, we are excited to make our way towards racial, economic, and gender justice with all of you.
