Multiyear Funding is Our Answer - Women's Foundation California
SLI fellows

Every year around this time, we’re encouraged to think in short bursts: one gift, one action, one deadline before midnight. But the truth, the one we see in movements across California, is that real change doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It takes commitment. It takes time to take root. It asks us to stay long enough to see systems bend rather than the satisfaction of quick, easy solutions.

Multiyear funding is our answer to that truth. It’s a belief that the work worth doing, the work of reimagining safety, economic justice, reproductive freedom, and belonging needs stability, not scarcity. It needs organizers who can plan past the next crisis. It needs donors and funders who know they are in this with our communities, not just for a year, but for the long arc.

It is only through the support of partners, friends, and donors like you, we are able to invest for the long haul.

At a moment when funding is tightening and organizations are being asked to do more with less, we’re choosing a different path: one grounded in trust, relationships, and the belief that communities know what they need. Our renewed three-year grants of $90,000 to each core partner do more than keep programs running, they give leaders room to imagine, to breathe, to build toward futures that aren’t defined by scarcity.

This is what collective feminist giving looks like:

A community deciding, together, that justice is worth investing in over the long arc.

A community that refuses to let movements weather uncertainty alone.

A community that understands that patience is a form of power.

As we open Giving Season, we’re asking you to join or renew your place in this community. Your multiyear support fuels multiyear change. It builds the kind of California where all of us can thrive.

Will you make a gift today that sustains this work for the long run?

Thank you for being part of the long arc with us.

We’re grateful to begin this season — and this next chapter — together.
